Renew 2024-2025 FAQ

A. When you are ready to secure your spot at The Social Chico, you may fill out one of our online applications on our website. After you submit your application, we will email you our online lease to electronically sign. Our spots are first come first serve, when you are ready to sign we encourage you to start our online leasing process as soon as possible! Please contact the office if you have any questions.

A. To submit a work order, please go to our website or download the app to log in to your Resident Portal. You may also stop by the leasing office or reach out for assistance. If you have a maintenance emergency, please call our office as soon as possible.

A. Rent includes water, Wi-Fi, trash, and access to all our community amenities. Our suites in the dorms are all-inclusive! If you live in the apartments, power, and gas will be split amongst your roommates and charged to your Resident Portal account each month. The price for utilities will vary by usage.

A. We do! If you don’t have a roommate in mind, we offer this program for free. On your application, you will fill out a questionnaire to help our team match you with the best roommate we can find.

A. Yes, we do require a renter’s liability insurance. This is offered for $10.95 a month or you can enroll in your own provider. Please contact our office for more information.

Our leases are individual leases, which means you are only financially responsible for your space. If your roommate transfers schools, you will not be accountable for their portion of the rent payment.

Your security deposit will be determined during the screening process. All of our residents must pass a background, credit, and income check. If your screening results require you to provide a security deposit, you may use our partner company Canopy Plus Deposit Waiver. Canopy will lower your move-in cost by eliminating the security deposit and have your rent payments reported on your credit for FREE with CreditCare! Please contact our leasing team with any questions.

Yes, we accept walk-in tours! For your in-person tour please bring your government-issued ID and park in one of our future resident parking spots. One of our team members will greet you in our leasing office at 1400 W 3rd St. Chico, CA 95928. Please contact our leasing team to schedule your tour.

WiFi and streaming services are provided by Xfinity on Campus. Xfinity stream includes Xfinity cable streaming services available on all internet browser-capable devices, Samsung Smart TV, and Roku streaming devices. You can even add services to your account such as premium sports packages, HBO, and more!

Our community is in a great location where you can walk to campus, downtown Chico, or call an Uber to get anywhere in Chico. If you do decide to bring a car, please register your vehicle in your application. Parking is a one-time fee of $100.  Guests are welcome to park in first come first serve street parking or obtain a 2-day guest parking pass in the leasing office.

We have 7 communal laundry rooms with washers and dryers for our residents to use! These are located on most floors in each of our buildings. You may download the WASH App or load up a tap card from the kiosk in our lobby.

We are a smoke-free community. Smoking within 25 feet of any of our buildings is prohibited.

Our private shuttle service operates on weekdays, with a frequency of every 15 minutes to and from Chico State University.  We anticipate releasing the official schedule for Fall 2023 soon. Our dedicated covered shuttle stop is conveniently located adjacent to our Starbucks Café 1400. Please kindly ensure you provide a valid ID, the shuttle is exclusively reserved for the residents of The Social Chico®.
